UPDATE- Due to reconstruction and restructuring, MSF will not be offering aquaponics seminars or system installations until some time later next year.
Aquaponics For Educators

School gardens grow more than just plants. Research has shown that students who participate in school garden programs not only enhance their academic achievement; but also improve their knowledge of healthy nutrition, expand their palate, and up their intake of fruits and vegetables. School gardens have also been shown to strengthen community and social development.
ACADEMIC USES FOR AQUAPONIC SYSTEMS
.
·Hands-on environmental science, botany, biology and math are requisite parts of aquaponic systems
·Introduction of Localized Farming and its importance
·Supplementing school lunch programs with the freshest protein and produce
Aquaponics is a great complement or alternative to traditional gardening- there is no need to test the soil around the school for toxins (e.g. lead) and the fish and bacteria add a new element of biological learning.

AQUAPONICS IS AS EASY AS A, B, C!
a) When fish are fed, they produce waste. The fish waste provides nutrients for bacteria.
b) The bacteria turn the fish waste into absorbable nutrients for plants.
c) The plants clean the water for the fish in an endless cycle of life. As long as the ecosystem is correctly installed and maintained, it is food and fish for consumption.
THE MANY USES OF AN AQUAPONICS GARDEN
For schools, the biggest curricular return for their investment is an aquaponic garden.
Whether it’s for the entire school or a single classroom, there can be no doubt that gardens make a huge difference.
Perhaps your school doesn’t have a community garden or your aquaponics knowledge is incomplete, but you like the idea and want to get started. No problem. Morningstar Fishermen is a helpful resource and would love to help you put your Aquaponic Garden together.
