After partnering with Rotary International in 2010, Morning Star Fishermen began building its newest aquaponic training facility in Jintotepe Nicaragua. Using land that was donated by a local farmer, the MSF volunteers were able to build right away. The training for this project began right here in Dade City and has continued in Nicaragua with the help from the University of Agriculture in Jinotepe.
Development in Jinotepe continues today, with the construction of new facilities for the staff and volunteers. In addition to growing fish and produce, the MSF team is cultivating a network of local students who will then carry this legacy out into their community. We hope to have a full staff soon, and we are eager to increase the training curriculum from quarterly to monthly. Ongoing training is the key to helping the community help itself. Yet, there is still work that can be done right here at home to support their efforts. Giving a donation of any amount to Morning Star Fishermen, will ensure that these people are supplied with the resources they need. Thank you for your support; we could not have done it without you!
